During my senior year at Cal Poly Pomona, I was part of a team that introduced and integrated a PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system onto the existing school's wind tunnel. A PIV system is a flow visualization technique that shines a laser (or lasers) through a "fog", preferably inside a wind tunnel, and uses a camera (or cameras) to capture how the air moves around an object.
I was in charge of the manufacturing and the CAD model, along with the stress analysis.
I designed several apparatuses to integrate and attach the laser, cameras, and safety curtains onto the wind tunnel.
